The Gallo Gives Foundation Awards Community Donations
As part of its continual effort to make a difference in the community in which it lives and serves, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty’s Gallo Gives Foundation awarded donations to: Rehoboth Beach Film Society, Clothing Our Kids, What Is Your Voice, Dewey In Bloom, Delaware Realtors Care Foundation and the Delaware Adolescent Program. Additionally, two college scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors from Cape Henlopen High School. In all, $14,500 was donated for this giving campaign.
$2,000 was given to the Rehoboth Beach Film Society in support of their annual Film Festival. The Rehoboth Beach Film Society (RBFS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes the cinematic arts and provides cultural enrichment to the Sussex County community. Operating the year-round Cinema Art Theater in Lewes, DE, the Society screens premier independent films, documentaries, and world-class cultural simulcasts. RBFS is also the proud presenter of the award-winning Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival, a signature autumn event held annually in November. Learn more at rehobothfilm.com.
$1,500 was provided to Clothing Our Kids. Clothing Our Kids (COK) is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides essential school clothing to at-risk elementary and middle school students throughout Sussex County, Delaware. By partnering with local school staff to identify children in need, COK discreetly supplies new clothing, shoes, and outerwear to help kids attend school with dignity and focus on their education. Funded by community donations and operated entirely by volunteers, the organization has distributed more than 200,000 items of clothing since 2012. Learn more at clothingourkids.org.
$1,500 was given to What Is Your Voice. What Is Your Voice, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) trauma-informed domestic violence agency and resource center based in Lewes, DE. Dedicated to breaking the cycle of abuse and addiction in Sussex County, the organization offers survivors of intimate partner violence and human trafficking a holistic, centralized path to independence. Through its one-acre campus, the organization provides emergency and transitional housing, mental health therapy, a 24/7 helpline, and specialized Peer Support Advocacy. By addressing the intersections of relational trauma, homelessness, and recovery, What Is Your Voice empowers individuals to heal and safely reintegrate into the community. $1,000 was given to the Delaware Realtors Care Foundation. The Delaware Realtors Care Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Delaware Association of Realtors®. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the foundation provides essential emergency assistance and financial relief to real estate professionals and Delaware residents facing critical times of need. Driven by the volunteer spirit and donations of local Realtors, the foundation works to strengthen communities, promote housing stability, and support civic initiatives across the state. $1,000 was provided to Dewey in Bloom in support of the to-be-built Children’s Learning Garden. Dewey in Bloom is a volunteer- and donation-based town beautification project dedicated to enhancing the coastal charm and curb appeal of Dewey Beach, Delaware. Established in 2024 with the town’s assistance, the initiative brings together local residents and business sponsors to plant and maintain colorful flower displays in custom “bloom boxes” throughout the community. The volunteers are planning to build a children’s learning garden in Dewey Beach, an effort to get local kids outdoors and involved in the community. $500 was donated to Delaware Adolescent Program, Inc. The Delaware Adolescent Program, Inc. (DAPI) is a statewide 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to empowering pregnant and parenting teens through comprehensive education, health services, and community support. As the only program of its kind in Delaware with centers in all three counties, DAPI provides an alternative school environment where students receive academic instruction, maternal health advocacy, and childcare coordination. By addressing the unique educational and personal challenges teen parents face, DAPI boasts an average 98% graduation and school-reintegration rate, helping young families build stable pathways toward academic and economic success. Finally, two $2,500 scholarships were awarded to local students. A $2,500 scholarship was awarded to Liam Ramsey of Cape Henlopen High School. The scholarship is to aid him in his college studies in Business at the University of Florida. A $2,500 scholarship was awarded to Declan West, a sergeant in the JROTC program at Cape Henlopen High School to help in his college studies in Environmental Science.
