How to Request a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
  1. Check your calendar for a few preferred dates and times that work for you and your staff.
    • The Chamber will hold a ribbon cutting on any weekday that doesn’t have a Chamber event on the calendar, if possible.
    • The most well-attended ribbon cutting time during the workday is 3:00 – 4:30PM, with the ribbon cutting around 4:00PM.  Other popular times include 8:00 – 9:30AM and 12:00 – 1:30PM.  Think a different time, like an after-work event, is better suited for your business?  Just let us know!
  2. Email Emily, at [email protected], to get scheduling!
    • To finalize your ribbon cutting plans, we will first confirm the date and time of the event.
    • Ideally, the Chamber will schedule ribbon cuttings with at least 10 business days notice.  This allows for adequate event promotions!
  3. Decide if you’d like Chamber staff to submit a press release before the event.
    • With at least 10 days notice before the event, the Chamber will submit a pre-event press release to our media list on your behalf for $50.
    • This is a great opportunity for extra promotion ahead of the event!

Ribbon Cutting FAQs & Tips
  1. As the business, what do I need to provide?
    • All you need to provide for the event is light refreshments!
    • The Chamber will provide the ribbon, bow, big scissors, and will organize and capture the ribbon cutting photo.
    • You are welcome to add to the event by featuring a raffle, catering, live music, door prizes, discounts, or other fun activities!  If you tell the Chamber about any fun additions to the event, we will promote them.  If you’d like recommendations on what to do or who to partner with, just ask!
  2. What promotions should I expect to see for the event?
    • For your ribbon cutting, the Chamber will create a Chamber Event webpage, a Facebook event, and will include the ribbon cutting in 2+ weekly E-currents emails ahead of the event, and in the monthly Chamber newsletter (if scheduled before the 1st of the month the ribbon cutting is taking place during).
    • The Chamber will also send a specific event invite to the membership for the ribbon cutting, approximately one week before the event.
    • After the ribbon cutting, the Chamber will submit a press release to local media, including a brief write up and ribbon cutting photo.
    • If you’d like a press release before the event, the Chamber can submit one on your behalf for $50, if given 10 days notice before the event.
  3. How much does holding a ribbon cutting ceremony cost?
    • Ribbon cuttings are a complimentary benefit of your Chamber membership!
  4. Can I promote the ribbon cutting event to people outside of the Chamber membership?
    • Please do!  As a business owner or representative, feel free to invite friends, family, and community members that may not be associated with the Chamber.
