Shred for Threads Fundraiser
Shred for Threads Fundraiser
Local skateboarder and Sussex Tech High School student, Sam Ratner, has created “Shred for Threads” to benefit the Epworth Skate Park in Rehoboth Beach. Sam is collecting gently used skate, surf, skim and snowboarding clothing, shoes, gear and equipment which will be sold at Epworth Park Skate Days or events. All proceeds from the sales will go to the park. Sam noted that “the benefit to the resort skate/board sports community is two-fold: the items will be sold inexpensively to kids who might not be able to afford to buy “brand new” and the park always needs funds to cover upkeep and repairs.” “Currently, donations will also be going to the new lights that are being installed around the park right now”, he added.
The first “Shred for Threads” sale will be held during “Go Skate Day” on Sunday, April 24 from 2-6 pm. “Go Skate Days” are held throughout the year and often feature skate contests and demos, prizes, live music and a bake sale. Skate days and the park are free and open to the public. The park was built by grass roots organization, The Epworth Skate Project, on land donated by the Epworth United Methodist Church, located at 19285 Holland Glade Road in Rehoboth Beach, DE.
