From the Delaware Department of Labor’s Division of Paid Leave –

Dear Delaware employers,

The launch of Delaware LaborFirst, the online administrative system for the Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML) insurance program, has been temporarily delayed. We will announce the new launch date as soon as we have full confidence in its successful deployment. Once you start to use LaborFirst, we hope that you will find it to be an easy-to-use way for employers to manage their PFML plans.

Attached to this email, please find a new FAQ to help employers understand the program and know what to expect from Delaware LaborFirst. We’ve also attached two checklists – one designed for employers and one for TPAs – that will help you and your clients/members know what information you should have handy when you log into LaborFirst, such as your company’s Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN), your company’s “start date”, employer’s ownership information, and business address(es).  Our testing indicates that the process for registering as a new employer will only take about ten minutes.

In addition to the attached Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), the Division of Paid Leave has a website, DE.gov/PaidLeave, with plenty of additional useful information about the Paid Family Medical Leave insurance program.  We recently added an Employer’s and TPA’s Guide to Delaware Paid Leave, an easy-to-read explanation of what the program is, how it works, and how to administer the program. The webpage also includes a calculator feature that will help both employers and employees estimate how much their contributions will be and what they might expect for a benefit in case they ever need to make a claim.

We apologize for this delay in launching the system and we will release the new go live date as soon as it is confirmed.

Sincerely,

Chris Counihan
