Holiday House Tour of Lewes to Showcase Ten Homes Decorated for the Season
Historic Lewes invites you to the Holiday House Tour of Lewes, an annual tradition showcasing local homes spanning three centuries, decorated with charm and seasonal spirit, in the town of Lewes, Delaware.
On Saturday, December 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., explore a curated selection of ten private homes and two public buildings in historic Lewes, each beautifully adorned for the holidays. This self-guided tour offers a rare glimpse inside some of the area’s most treasured properties, celebrating both the architectural heritage and the magic of the season.
This year’s event will include almost a dozen spectacularly decorated homes ranging from centuries-old to contemporary, new construction. Every property will share its unique story with visitors, combined with a distinctive display of holiday decor. Docents, provided by local non-profits, will be available to share specific details of each room on the tour. Tickets are $50 each and will provide a one-time admission to all ten homes, as well as the historic DAR House and the first-floor lobby of The Lodge, in Lewes. The house tour doors open at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025. The last visitor will be admitted at 3:30 p.m. The Society wants visitors to know that the tour does require transportation to many of the homes.
A detailed guidebook with descriptions of each property will serve as your ticket, and may be picked up before the event, starting on November 18 at LHS’s main campus, located at 110 Shipcarpenter Street in Lewes.
Ticket holders and the general public are invited to the free Holiday Village & Market at the Society’s historic campus starting on First Friday, December 5, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and continuing on Saturday, December 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Joined by baby alpaca from Four Acres Farm, the market will host over a dozen additional local farms, and artists selling their hand-made products. Farm products range from honey, oysters, fresh baked goods, olive oils, jellies and jams, lavender, salts, nut brittles and more. Visitors can shop for holiday gifts including jewelry, knitwear, paintings, photography, glassware, textiles, candles, and ceramic creations. The traditional sale of greens will take place on Saturday only, along with food options, carolers, a holiday bazaar and historic interpreters mingling among the crowds.
This event is generously sponsored by Dewson Construction Company, Idea Lab Digital, LLC, Lamb Residential Services, Lee Ann Wilkinson Group, and Oak Construction. Proceeds benefit the preservation and educational efforts of the Lewes Historical Society. To purchase tickets, visit: historiclewes.org. For questions email holidayhousetour@historiclewes.org.
