Delmarva Power Gifting Program Can Assist Family, Friends, Neighbors and More
Programs provide customers with ways to help those financially impacted by COVID-19
NEWARK, Del. (May 21, 2020) – As COVID-19 continues to present health and economic challenges to our customers in Delaware and Maryland, Delmarva Power wants to remind customers of the Gift of Energy and Good Neighbor Energy Fund programs. From helping someone pay their energy bills to give the gift of energy, these programs provide customers options to help ease the financial impacts of the pandemic.
“We’re here to help our customers who are facing hardships,” said Gary Stockbridge, Delmarva Power region president. “Right now, we’re all looking for ways to step up and help our community. We’ve suspended service disconnections, waived new late payment charges, and more. But it’s also important to empower support within our communities. Through the Gift of Energy and Good Neighbor Energy Fund, we’re able to help our customers help their friends, families, neighbors, or even a local business.”
For those looking to assist a specific customer, Delmarva Power offers the Gift of Energy. The program allows anyone to purchase credits for Delmarva Power customers—including family and friends—that go toward their energy bills. The Gift of Energy is an easy way to alleviate an energy bill for a loved one or even a local business. All that is needed is the customer’s name and address or phone number associated with the account. The gift will appear on the recipient’s future energy bill as a credit. Those interested in making a purchase can do so online at delmarva.com/gift or by calling 800-375-7117.
Through the Good Neighbor Energy Fund, customers can provide payment assistance to low-income customers struggling to pay their energy bills. The Salvation Army and other non-profits in the Delmarva Power service area receive and disburse donations to qualified recipients. In addition to the donations received from customers, Delmarva Power matches $1 for every $3 received, up to $70,000 annually. Since 2014, Delmarva Power and its customers have donated approximately $700,000, helping those in need across Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
For more information, or to make a contribution, customers can visit delmarva.com/DEgnef (Delaware) or delmarva.com/MDgnef (Maryland).
In addition to energy assistance programs, Delmarva Power has provided $100,000 for COVID-19 relief in Delaware and Maryland. For those struggling to pay their energy bills, Delmarva Power reminds customers that energy assistance is still available.
